What Skills Should Your Property Manager Possess?
There are many things that your property manager should have to qualify them as a legal business within your area – but that is not what we are hitting on today. We want to mention some of the basic skills that you might want to consider while interviewing them to take on your investment.
Customer Service Skills
This person or team should be able to deal with people. Not owners, but renters. This can run the gambit of types of people that they will encounter. Being able to adjust is a must.
Negotiating Skills
Working deals with potential tenants, dealing with vendors for services needed, and dealing with the business side of home investing. They need to know what they are getting into, without sinking your deal.
Organizational Skills
Collecting documents, payments, keeping up on contracts, and the list goes on! If this is a question, you might want to ask about their system.
Communication Skills
You want to be able to have someone who can speak the language. The language of tenants, conflict resolution, human resources to hire people for their (and ultimately your) team. Having someone who can really understand all sides is important for your business partnership.
When you are looking for your next property manager, make sure you are confident that these 4 items are covered.
